Goldy's Return

Ten year's after that tragic day, Goldy returns to once again wreak havoc upon the bears. But this time the stakes are raised! Up for voting at Shirt.Woot.com/derby.

De-evolution is the theme of this week's derby. I created this design of someone who has allowed themselves to become completely reliant upon machines for life. The Band Devo is involved in the derby this week so that's what the logo is doing in there. They are the creators of the song "Whip It."

"Buzz Aldrin" and "Neil Armstrong" always seemed like the names of sports stars to me. This week's Shirt.Woot Derby was my chance to make my confusion a reality.

This week I have another shirt up for voting in the derby. It caters to the theme of madness and once again seeks to combine my love of pretending to know anything about literature and my natural-born desire to draw heavily armored fantasy creatures.

This week's derby entry, inspired by the band They Might Be Giants and Don Quixote...which it turns out was, in fact, the inspiration for the film that inspired the name of the band. It is doing really well so if you get a chance to vote on it please do.

My entry for the Shirt.Woot derby this week. I've been up all night getting it done....which usually means it will wind up in about 30th place :) My judgement of what other people will like dies at around 10:00 pm. This week the derby theme is dance. I decided to do some sort of ceremonial dancer crow-head. I didn't want to do something specific to any historical group, but rather something that might spring up in a post-apocalyptic tribal culture.

My entry over at the Shirt.woot derby this week. The theme this week is pointalism and while I realize its not Seurat (I am not great with mixing colors so I stuck with a pretty limited palette) I feel like the concept came across really well.

This week's Shirt.Woot Derby theme is Music. These are my entries. for the violin one I used a picture of Kaylee as a reference. 

My other individualism design. Its about how great it is to be an artist and not have a normal job. That's why the circle-headed guy looks so afraid. 

The old ways are best! This week's derby is about individualism. This young generic bear wearing a hood has found a new-fangled weapon, no doubt dropped by a generic white-suited clone soldier. His elders do not approve.

Something from the sketchbook that turned out really nicely I thought. Kind of an Asian town-thingy that is on poles in the middle of a lake.

They usually do better than the designs I've worked on for days. Maybe I'm trying too hard? Or maybe not hard enough. I think that I can do simple designs really well and complex designs only pretty good. I feel like I've been making some headway lately though.

It Will Learn To Fly Again

This design, as well as my other heart designs, will be up for voting tomorrow in Shirt.Woot's weekly derby. I love the "tatoo" styled art look. This is my "stab" at something a little more in that "vein." I've been reading the woot descriptions too much:)

I drew this very angry-looking business-suited fellow today. Ironing suits is actually pretty tough. I can't decide if I want the design to say "So you want to stick it to the man, huh? Bring it on." or something about how its a bad time to be a republican or a mortgage company.(Yes its on a woot template. No, its not available there or anywhere else, I just wanted to see what it would look like on a shirt.)

I'm trying to figure out how I can put my love of imaginary machine shops into a t-shirt design. Here are some sketches I've done of them, But I can't seem to envision the enclosed space on something as open as clothing. Maybe I need to think of it in terms of an "all over" sort of feel.

Never stop believing in your imaginary friends, not even for a second, or they will die. Then you will wish and wish but they will never come back. Ever.

 I made some different color options for this one, I can't seem to get the colors to be what I want them to be.

Another heartbreak design. Scooters are awesome!

I made this for the shirt.woot derby next week. The theme is heartbreak. I drew these little guys coming out of the heart to take a break and play some ultimate frisbee. It ended up not getting the point across and also looking much too hairy, probably not going to work for the derby. I still thought I would show it to you guys.

I have 4 shirts in the Double-take derby this week that anyone with a woot account that has purchased something can vote for. It doesn't look like any of them are going to win, but that means that I will soon no longer be breaking the terms and conditions to which I agreed by printing them somewhere else, which I will think about as soon as I get my act together.
